It’s time for Small Business Saturday 2022, arriving this November 26th, just a couple of days after Thanksgiving. Since we’re all about the small businesses in Sarasota, we thought we’d share this with you.
In a nutshell, Small Business Saturday emphasizes patronizing local companies during the most lucrative retail buying seasons of the year. SRQ Business Alliance has a few ideas and suggestions on how to maximize your sales potential on this critical weekend following Black Friday.

Make an Appropriate Sales Promo for Small Business Saturday
Perhaps the smartest way to approach this Saturday event would be to offer something special to entice your loyal local following. We work with a lot of Sarasota restaurants that could do a few discount menu deals and enjoy a nice boost in foot traffic. Don’t forget that about 50% of Americans plan to support local businesses on Small Business Saturday. Not only that, but over 70% say they want to make more effort to support small businesses. Take advantage of that zeal by offering a decent bargain this Saturday.
Advertise This Heavily Through Email Newsletters & Social Media
Yes, advertising online actually works. You still have time to hype your Saturday promotions with a quick post on Facebook or through your weekly email newsletter. If possible, send your followers a reminder email on Black Friday. That way it’ll be fresh on their minds the day before the event. It also lets them know that you’re not just one-and-done on Black Friday, but still have plenty of surprises and discounts ready.
Keep Your Physical Store Stocked
Most businesses in our network still have a physical store, which means you’ll want to optimize it for heavy sales traffic this Saturday. First, make sure your staff support is adequate for the occasion. Then make sure you have visual displays of everything you want to showcase (i.e., menu bargains, discount merchandise, etc.). Also, some businesses might do other creative tasks like photo opportunities or gift-wrapping services.
Don’t Forget About the Following Week
Small Business Saturday should be a momentum engine that brings in extra sales attention the following week. The holiday sales season is just beginning, so you don’t want to rest on your laurels. Finally, you can send thank you newsletters to the folks you invited, and remind them of future promotions.
We hope you enjoy Small Business Saturday 2022, and draw in lots of new customers to your products and services. We’re always rooting for you at SRQ Business Alliance, Sarasota’s premier business marketing consortium.
