Spend October Celebrating Fall in Florida!

You don’t have to let the end of summer spell the end of outdoor fun and activities in Florida. Sure, we have to contend with the busier part of hurricane season during September and October. However, it’s also a terrific time to celebrate the arrival of fall, especially if you’ve been wanting a break from 95-degree heat every day.

What’s a fun and traditional way to celebrate fall in October?

You could visit a delightful pumpkin patch or carnival, and there are plenty of them in our corner of Florida. Here’s a quick guide to the SRQ area’s best pumpkin patches, carnivals, festivals, and other events throughout October.

Plenty To Do in Sarasota This October

  1. The Fruitville Grove Farm Market – This is arguably Sarasota’s best October event because it lasts the entire month. Every day, from 10 am to 5 pm, you won’t want to miss the ongoing 35th Annual Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Festival. This comprehensive carnival experience lets you pet zoo animals, decorate pumpkins, and watch the Torres Family One-Ring Circus and Extreme Riders (on weekends). There’s even an opportunity to relax on a hayride, enjoy live music, and grab lunch at one of the many available food trucks.
  2. Pumpkin SPLASH – The Arlington Park & Aquatic Center invites you to mix pumpkins with water activities on Saturday, October 21st (11 am to 1 pm). It’s a terrific child-friendly activity, complete with swimming, pumpkin carving, and more.
  3. Boo at the Bay!Boo at the Bay! – You should also check out one of Sarasota’s beautiful public venues, The Bay Park, on Oct. 20th from 6-10:30pm for an evening full of treat-or-treating, pumpkin picking, yard games, and more at 1055 Blvd of the Arts.
  4. 3rd Annual Fall Festival @ University Town Center – The University Town Center features several family-oriented activities such as the Lil Mr. & Mrs. Pumpkin Pageant, carnival rides, and the chance to dress your pet in novel Halloween costumes. The festivities take place on October 21st and 22nd, from 11 am to 6 pm. If nothing else, it’s an easy way to find something great to eat because the event features over three dozen food trucks, beer trucks, and other vendors.
