Looking for Some Nightlife Fun This Summer

Summer has been with us for about a month now, and perhaps these heat waves make that duration feel even longer. We don’t blame you if you’d rather wait for the more bearable evening weather before even thinking about recreation activities. That’s why we compiled this quick reference guide of things you can do to beat the heat AND enjoy Sarasota’s vibrant nightlife.

Looking for Some Nightlife Fun This Summer

Our Picks for Top Sarasota Nightlife Fun

Downtown Comedy Clubs – This might be the best place to start because we could all use a laugh to distract ourselves from work, traffic, politics, and other irritations. Fortunately, downtown Sarasota has at least two dependable comedy venues: 1) McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre & Humor Institute, and 2) Florida Studio Theatre (FST). McCurdy’s has a phenomenal summer lineup prepared for us, including popular comedian Rob Schneider (August 16th and 17th) and Dean Napolitano in early September. Then again, if you prefer sketch comedy and improv shows, then you’ll have a blast at the FST.

Siesta Key Village – Don’t limit your experience of the beautiful Siesta Key area to daytime adventures alone. There’s plenty to do at night: grab a drink at Daiquiri Deck or Siesta Key Oyster Bar, or try other “Tiki-themed” novelty joints like Gilligan’s Island Bar. You also won’t have to go far to find live music from almost any genre you prefer.

Live Symphony Orchestra Shows – Do you have a more sophisticated palette when it comes to music? Then check out the exquisite Sarasota Ochestra if you haven’t already. They’ve been around since 1949, featuring almost 80 members, complete with classically trained conductors, pianists, violinists, and more. Once you’ve heard them perform, you’ll want to save a spot in next year’s Sarasota Musical Festival, which takes place each June.

Plenty of Other Novelties to Try – Finally, you can probably locate almost any nightlife niche activity if you poke around Sarasota long enough. There’s salsa dancing at Latin Quarters, fine wine at The Lounge at Element, and a lively outdoor atmosphere with terrific food at Mattison’s City Grille. If you’re simply in the mood for some good pizza, then you can’t go wrong with Asaro’s Pizzeria Ristorante, for legitimate Italian cuisine.
