Five of the Best Family-Friendly Beaches in Sarasota County

The best reason to move and do business in the gorgeous Sarasota area is the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic lifestyle. This is true whether you move here alone or with a family.

If you make the terrific decision to live here, you’ll inevitably want to stake out a few favorite beaches. In this post, we’ll offer our take on the best coastal beaches for families around Sarasota and Bradenton.

Siesta Key Beach

Siesta Key Beach

This might be just about everyone’s favorite, so we have to start with the heralded Siesta Key Beach, located about halfway between Lido Key and Turtle Beach. It’s gotten significant attention from popular magazines like Trip Advisor, who’s ranked it as the #1 Beach in America multiple times. If you’ve heard of our area’s reputation for powdery sand and beautiful blue waters, then this beach is the best example of both.

Nokomis Beach

Nokomis Beach features the lavish Nokomis Plaza, which was built in the 1950s, by Jack West, when Florida really took off like a rocket in real estate. It’s a popular place for families because of its fishing opportunities and proximity to numerous restaurants. It also has a nice boardwalk area and playgrounds for young children.

Caspersen Beach

Caspersen Beach is near the South Venice Yacht Club and Shamrock Park & Nature Center in Venice, Florida. Are you one of those folks who likes to comb the beach for shark teeth and other seashore novelties? Then try this one first. It’s a little smaller because this coastal section is more erosional, but that also creates more opportunities to find interesting items hidden amid the sands.

Lido Beach

This is probably the next most popular option after Siesta Beach. It’s close to the lovely St. Armand’s circular shopping area and the Sand Castle Resort. The beach amenities (like bathrooms and food resources) are better here than many other places, and there are plenty of lifeguards on duty.

Manasota Beach

Manasota Beach may be the quietest of the five and doesn’t come with all the special amenities. Here’s where you would go to enjoy something more laid back with plenty of simple charm, peace, and an overall tranquil ambiance.

Those are the best beaches to take your family almost anytime of year (the weather is fantastic all the time). While you’re there, don’t be afraid to shop locally and patronize a couple of our member businesses.
